Terms of Service — Ðekawɔwɔ

Welcome to Ðekawɔwɔ — "the making of one." These terms explain what this platform is, what you can expect from it, and what we expect from you. We’ve written them in plain language because they should be easy to understand. By using Ðekawɔwɔ, you agree to them.

This is a prototype — not a live emergency service. Ðekawɔwɔ is currently a prototype and hackathon demonstration. It is not a real emergency service and is not a replacement for one. In a life-threatening situation, always call 112 (unified emergency), 191 (police), 192 (fire), or 193 (ambulance) directly.

About this platform

Ðekawɔwɔ is a community support platform for the Volta Region of Ghana. Its purpose is to connect community members to resources and to each other — sharing wishes, offering help, mapping local needs, and building stronger ties between neighbors.

At this stage Ðekawɔwɔ is a working prototype built to explore and demonstrate the idea. Features may change, break, or disappear as we build. It is not a finished product and should not be treated as a dependable service yet.

Not affiliated

Ðekawɔwɔ is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any of the organizations or services that may appear in the app as demos or examples. This includes, but is not limited to, Lady Volta Green Tech Academy, the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), and Ghana's emergency numbers — 112 (unified), 191 (police), 192 (fire), and 193 (ambulance).

Where these names appear, they are used to illustrate how the platform could work. We hope to partner with organizations like these in the future, but no such partnership exists today. Any logos, names, or references remain the property of their respective owners.

Your account

If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe. Don't share your password, and let us know if you think someone else has gained access to your account.

You're responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend or permanently terminate accounts that are used for abuse, fraud, or any of the behavior described in “Honest use” below.

Honest use

Ðekawɔwɔ only works if people trust it. When you use the platform, you agree to:

Be honest in your submissions. Describe situations truthfully and to the best of your knowledge.
Never submit false or prank cases. Fake reports do real harm — they waste responders' time and can pull help away from people who genuinely need it. (The GNFS alone receives over 500,000 prank calls every year.)
Not use the platform to harass anyone — no threats, abuse, or targeting of other people.
Not impersonate responders or organizations. Don't pretend to be the police, fire service, a sanctuary, an academy, or anyone you are not.

Breaking these rules can lead to your account being terminated, and in serious cases may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Your content

The things you submit — text, audio, images, and video — belong to you. Ðekawɔwɔ does not claim ownership of your content. It's yours.

By submitting content, you give us permission (a license) to use it for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. You keep the right to your own content, and the license only exists so the platform can do its job — receiving, understanding, and routing your request.
